Pedi-egg vs. pedophile

Lately my feet have been like sandpaper (which is weird because it hasn't been flip flop season for quite some time). Every night in bed lately when I try and play footsie with Scott he says, "Dude! Your feet are like sandpaper, scratchy! Get them off me!"

Last night in bed here was our convo:

Me: (rubbing my feet against his)
Scott: "Aaah your feet are like sandpaper."
Teddy: "I'm so sorry! I don't know why they are!"
Scotty: "Don't you have that like pedi-file thing that gets all the calluses off?"
Teddy: "Pedophile huh? Try pedi-egg."
Scotty: "Do you think the person that invented that called it a "pedi-file" first but then realized that wouldn't fly? So they switched it to pedi-egg?"
Teddy: "Most definitely".

vs.
Such a clever husband. The pedi-egg is now known as the pedophile in our home. Only makes sense right?

6 Months

I am 6 months old today!

I weigh: 18 lbs 4 oz and am very tall! (haven't been to my 6 month check up yet)

I am: the best, easiest, smiliest, happiest, wiggliest, go-with-the-flow baby.

I can: say "da-da" and love to babble all the time...
hold toys and put anything and everything in my mouth
drool like it's nobody's business
put my feet in my mouth
roll over half way and then decide my arm's in the way so I go back

I love: to be sung to, especially James Taylor, primary songs, itsy bitsy spider, and patty cake
my swing, exersaucer, bumbo, and carseat
to get my diaper changed
to be naked
bath time at night
reading books
going on walks in my stroller
being tickled and held upside down by my dad
standing up straight as a board and arching my back
to play with and hold my feet while laying down
be swaddled when I sleep (but no arms anymore)
I don't like: to cuddle, unless I'm really tired.
when I drop my toys and mom's not around to get them for me
the freezing weather, it takes my breath away.
tummy time....I have to be in the right mood.

My schedule right now is:
wake up about 8 in the morning, eat breakfast while watching Rachael Ray with mom and playing games and singing songs. Get dressed, read stories and go down for about an hour nap around 9 or 9:30. Usually run an errand or play at home with mom. Another 2 hour nap around noon and then variable late nap around 3 or 4. Help mom cook dinner and wait for dad to get home. Play in my exersaucer while mom and dad eat dinner. Bath time, lotion massage, read books, nurse, sing songs and go down to bed at 7pm. I eat about every 3-4 hours still.

Mom loves: my big blue eyes and smile.
when I wake up from my nap babbling and she comes in and I have the biggest smile on my face and hold my arms up and kick my legs with excitement.
my chubby legs.
how I love to touch her face and gaze at her and hold her hand while nursing.
when I go down to bed at night without making a peep.

Dad loves: when I say "da-da"
to wrestle with me and tickle me
when I get antsy in church so he can take me out and walk around :)
when I get so excited about something that I shake uncontrollably

I'm looking forward to: sitting up on my own
real baby food (not just rice cereal)
warmer weather
zoo trips
growing some teeth

Happy 6 months sweet girl. We love you.

Love Day

Happy Valentines Day!
We had a great morning making and decorating cupcakes with Chels. Aren't they cute???
Jane was great company as my valentine today. Scott and I are "re-scheduling" it due to 5 tests this week (not that we're that romantic anyways)! It's all about the love on a daily basis to me. We had a yummy dinner of coconut curry soup over sticky rice followed by chocolate covered strawberries with Hagaan Daas vanilla ice cream. Did you know that there are 17 grams of fat for 1/2 a cup of that stuff??? No wonder it's SO good! Yikes!

So grateful for the love of my life. And so grateful that we don't have to have some crazy, romantic, expensive day to prove our love to each other. Life is simple, crazy, stressful, fun, hard, exhausting, but perfect. I love you. So glad you'll always be my valentine.

Me rambling

This morning when I was on my elliptical, I was looking out the window dreaming of running outside again. I haven't longed for something that bad in quite some time. I closed my eyes just to pretend I was running, pushing Jane in the jogging stroller, listening to some great tunes, breaking a good sweat and breathing in the warm air. Oh how I look forward to those days again.
It has been FREEZING here to say the least. It's just miserable outside. I didn't take Jane out anywhere for about a week (don't worry, I was able to get out for myself) because it has just been so dang cold. But there is hope! The weather this weekend is calling for low 40's!!! And get this.....53 next Wednesday!! Hallelujah! We are definitely gonna be out on walks.

I cleaned out my pantry and organized it. That then led to my fridge. I found some dinner tupperware from "quite some time ago" hiding in the back to say the least. Pretty dang nasty. It felt so good to get it all cleaned out and it looks so squeaky clean. I was hoping Scott would notice and when he got home from school browsing for something to eat.....he did.
I also organized Jane's nursery. She has grown out of so many of her clothes. So they are all packed up in tupperwares and the new ones are replaced in her drawers. It was so hard to pack some of those away! I just hope so badly I get to use them again someday. The time is flying by so quickly and she is so big.
Speaking of Jane. She's doing great. She is getting so much better and is finally being herself again. She sounds a million times better and her cough is pretty much gone. The congestion is still there but she seems to have learned how to deal with it a lot better.
Two of her newest things.....she's saying "Da-da" constantly. It's her new favorite words. Yeah I know, Scott won that competition. I kept trying to teach her "mama" but she doesn't get the big smile on her face like she does when we say, "Da-da!" It's so cute. She's got this whine coming though and it's totally freakin' me out. The other day when I put her book away before nap, she whined. Then last night when she dropped her toy out of her exersaucer....whine. When I pulled her off one side of nursing to switch her and she wasn't satisfied yet.....whine. It's begun!!! She is definitely aware and turning into a little pistol. But SO cute and so stinkin' fun. So over in Iowa, there's a deadly intersection. Scott has gotten a ticket their twice. But listen, it is SO CHEAP! They have about 20 million cameras there and it flashes pictures of your liscense plate and they send you the ticket in the mail. Come on people! If you're gonna give out tickets and take our money for not fully stopping at a right turn on a red light, you're gonna need to work for it a little harder and have an actual cop pull us over. SO CHEAP and such a rig. I hate it. The first one we got in the mail was a total surprise but this last one, Scott was driving on a snowy night and the light turned yellow and then red....and "he didn't want to slam his brakes because he was afraid he would slide" and went right through the red light. Next thing you know....flash, FLASH, flash!!!!!! He knew it was coming. He sent me a text immediately after that he owed me Red Mango and that we'll just leave it at that. Deal. But it's gonna be a really big one.
Today I FINALLY had my first sewing machine class! It has been sitting in the box in the living room and Scott keeps saying, "Do you even want that thing?" I am so excited about it, the machine is awesome!!! It is all digital and I don't even have to use a foot petal! I can if I want to, but it's not necessary, there's a start and stop button. It automatically winds up my bobbin and there's a needle threader too! Those are just a couple things that are super neat about it. Oh and it does button holes completely on it's own, I just sit back and relax! I was so giddy at my class, I just ate it up. So I whipped up my first sewing project tonight....leg warmers for Jane-o. SO CUTE huh?

I'm loving The Bachelor. Yes, I'm still that pathetic. But I've recruited my bestest bud to watch it with me and now she's addicted (aren't ya Chels)? I look forward to Mondays. I have my faves and I have my least faves. Michelle. Oh Michelle, you give Salt Lake such a bad name. You are quite beautiful, but that doesn't matter anymore. You're a deadly witch. But you're quite entertaining, I must say.
Also, loving The Biggest Loser. I couldn't watch it for a few seasons because it reminded me of being pregnant and how sick I was. The sickest I ever was pregnant was one night and I remember laying on the couch watching The Biggest Loser. It brought back terrible memories for awhile every time I saw it on TV. Well that phase is obviously over. It is so inspiring! But pretty pathetic that almost every time though I find myself eating ice cream or my late night snack while watching it and they're all starving to death and bashing fattening foods. I'm always found guilty on that one for some reason. Maybe eventually I'll catch on.

I started "The Help" while in Utah. It doesn't fit in my elliptical holder and it's driving me crazy. That truly is the only time I get to read for pleasure and so I called the library to get the books on CD (I hear they're great). I'm number 18 on the list. So I look forward to finishing that book in 2 years. I have to tell you I read my new favorite book just awhile back. It's called "These Is My Words". Oh I loved it so much and am tempted to name my next daughter Sarah because I love her so much. If you haven't read it, read it. You won't be disappointed. And for my scripture study this past month or so I've been reading "21 Days Closer to Christ". Definitely recommend that one too. I learned so much not only from the scriptures but about myself and my relationship with my Savior.

I think it's time to start feeding Jane baby food. In fact, I know it's time. She is eyeballing our food like crazy and wants it badly. But I have to admit, I'm a little sad to start it. I don't want her to stop nursing. It's my favorite thing in the world. It's my favorite time that I have with her to sit and stare at her and sing to her while she runs her hands up and down my cheeks. She's not going to stop will she and totally lose interest in nursing? Any advice on that? I started giving her rice cereal before we went to Utah and then with her getting sick I kind of just stopped, it was the last thing on my mind. But she loved it. These are my new very, very most favorite treat. Only 70 calories and so delicious. Sometimes I eat 2 in one sitting and justify to myself that it's still a lot less calories than my beloved banana, peanut butter shakes at night. Walmart has then for the cheapest. The acai berry and coconut are delicious too, but this kind is my very fave. Oooo and these too, from Costco. New favorite snack. These won't disappoint either.Alright, off to clean out the storage room and basement while Jane's napping. There's so many spiders down there I've put it off as long as possible but it's definitely time.

Good to be home....

Jane and I are back from Utah. It is so good to be home. It's funny how I feel so empty without my husband. Even with all the family and friends and fun things to do while in town, there is a huge void without Scott. It was so good to see him.

Tending Spencer was a great experience for me. Being a mother to 2 children (a baby and a 13 year old) definitely gave me a run for my money. But we had a great time.

Jane got sick while we were there. Such a bummer. She started coughing a few days after we got there and then it all went downhill from there. I tell ya, there is nothing worse than having a sick baby. You feel so helpless. It continued to get worse and worse and finally we had her checked out and the Dr. said she had Bronchulitis and an ear infection. I called Jane's pediatrician here when we FINALLY got home (that's another story) and told them what was going on and she told us to come right in. We headed to the Dr. and Jane was wheezing pretty bad still and coughing up a storm. Jane's got a form of RSV with the Bronchulitis and an ear infection. She's getting Albuterol breathing treatments every 4 hours and is hopefully on the up from here. Jane is amazing. She just takes it. I know she can't breathe good and she is so frustrated with her congestion and cough but she still sneaks her sweet smiles in to let us know she's okay. She doesn't fight her breathing treatments. I hold her tight to me and put the mask over her face and she just relaxes and eventually closes her eyes and usually falls asleep. I sit there and cry while I sing her primary songs! She is such an amazing baby. She has been sleeping a lot since we've gotten home, she obviously needs the rest. I sure love that little gal.

Now on a positive note, I have to share our "long journey home"! First of all I thought I was coming home on Sunday for some reason but wasn't until Tuesday, the 1st. Wow that threw me for a loop and I was super bummed because I missed Scott so much and just wanted to get Jane home. But it worked out just fine. Tuesday came along and our flight was canceled due to the freezing cold weather. So we stayed another day. Finally we were able to make it home.

The airplane ride was great! It was a direct flight (which is always a blessing) and there were only like 15 people on the whole plane. I was able to take Jane's carseat which was great so she just sat next to me and I was hoping she would just conk out and sleep the whole time. She was pooped, she conked out before the plane even took off. About 20 minutes into our flight this huge, tatooed, raspy, smoker guy that REEKED, started coughing and did not stop the whole flight. Jane would finally fall back asleep and then he'd start coughing up a lung and scare Jane to death and she'd wake up! I was so bummed cause she could hardly keep her eyes open and then this dude would wake her up every time!

So we're just about to descend. Now Jane starts having a cough attack and has snot bubbles coming everywhere out of her nose and is bright red. She's having a hard time breathing so I pull her out of her seat and am whacking her back trying to help her. Sure enough, I feel something warm on her bum. No....no....! It was poop of course. Right then the pilot gets on and tells us to fasten our seat belts and prepare to land. I call the flight attendant to ask her if I can hurry and go change Jane really quick. So we run up to the front of the plane and there I am trying to change Jane in a 2' by 2' bathroom. Those things are SO small!!! I couldn't even move and Jane was covered in poop all up the back. So 30 seconds later I am obviously covered in poop. I finally get her diaper off and wiped as much up as I could and then Jane decides to take a whiz all over. No diaper on. So I am grabbing paper towels like crazy trying to wipe it all up. I know I need to hurry cause we're supposed to be fastened in our seat belts ready to land. Do I have a spare outfit?? No, of course not. Have I SERIOUSLY not learned that lesson yet? Man! You would think so! I was a tornado in there and trying to maneuver in my 2 foot space. I finally come out of the bathroom and have Jane's clothes wrapped in paper towels and there she is in her diaper. We walked back to our seat through first class and I got some great looks! Chubby baby in a diaper. Mom smells like poop and is covered in pee.
Jane got plopped back into her carseat, naked. We landed about 2 minutes later. Sick baby Jane goes home in -20 degree weather in her diaper. I am such a good mom. Good to be home!!!
