Haven't blogged for a bit, here are some things going on......

It's FINALLY back! LOST starts tonight and we are so excited.

HELP!!!

Is anybody else having this problem? My hair has been so static lately and it's driving me crazy. Is it just a winter thing? The fact that I use cheap (.99 cent) conditioner? Help all you ladies, I'm going nuts!

I love this show!

I think it is so inspirational. What an amazing opportunity for these people, I can't believe their turn arounds. Hate to admit it but it totally makes me cry. Can you imagine the feeling? I was telling somebody at work the other day I am sometimes tempted to put on like 200 lbs, get on the show, then look freakin' amazing like they all do when they're done. Probably not worth it, but tempting!

*We recieved a HUGE blessing the other day. We got online to pay my tuition and this is what we saw:

We were super confused so I called the financial aid office and apparantly we got enough grants (and w/ my half off tuition from work) it covered all my tuition for this semester (about $3,500). Plus they sent us the left over money they didn't need to cover the cost. Best day ever and we are so grateful.

*The other night our best buds Spencer and Lisa came over because Spencer got a new "ski outfit" and was so excited to show us. Scott of course had to put on his new outfit he got for Christmas and the two were so hilarious together I had to snap some pics of them. They are gonna be one good lookin' two-some up on the slopes.

*I thought President Obama's inauguration was fabulous. It was actually quite emotional I thought. On the news that night they did a special on him and his life. I am proud of him for his success in life, especially because of what he came from. I know his mom would be very proud. Also on the special they interviewed all different kinds of people, all different ages, and they talked about how President Obama has inspired them. My favorite was a little African American boy who was only 10 years old and he talked about how he now knows that he can do anything he wants in life. The color of his skin doesn't matter and President Obama has taught him that. He saved up all his money to fly from Oklahoma to be at the Inauguration on Tuesday. They had footage of him there amongst the crowd intently watching and with tears in his eyes. It seemed to be more of a celebration than I ever remember with past presidents. What an inspiring, amazing time in history.

2009

I swear just yesterday I was in elementary school singing the song "1-800-94-Jenny!" from the Jenny Craig commercial. I remember they changed the number every year and when it went to "95 Jenny" it toally threw me off and I couldn't believe it was already 1995 and I was 10 years old. ( I hope at least one person reading this remembers that commercial). But anyway, here we are 2009....we're flyin'.
I think New Years Eve is probably the most over rated holiday we have here in America. I guess it was fun as a kid banging pots and pans, running down good old Flamingo Drive and the parents letting us stay up past midnight. That was indeed fun. We planned to go skiing that day with some friends and it was a great time and at night went to dinner (which was way over priced for not so great of food. . . I hate that) and then planned to play games and watch movies all night. Ended up I wasn't feeling so good that night and hit the hay at 9pm. Poor Scott stayed up and played Xbox and came in at midnight and jumped on the bed yelling "Happy New Year!" That's how exciting our new years was.
More than anything I just love the feeling of a new year. I feel I can start fresh, improve myself, and work on things I want to be better at. A dear friend of mine at work the other day said, "I don't get what it is with New Year's resolutions.....if you think you're fat, just start working out. Why do people think they have to wait till it's January 1st?" And I'm with ya girl, but I don't know what it is, it's just an excuse to start clean again. I still haven't written down a list of things to work on, but I know what they are....and they're always there. At church on Sunday we had ward conference and it was the best 3 hours of church I think I have ever been to. I won't go into detail but I learned so much (about myself more than anything) and really am grateful for the time I have had to reflect on and write down the things that were said. It was just what I needed spiritually for the start of a new year.
Well reality has kicked back in and winter break is over. School started yesterday for both Scott and I and we are back to our independent schedules everyday. For the record, Scott has already managed to go skiing 25 times this season and his raccoon eyes on his face boldly prove that. Me on the other hand, I've only made it up about 15 times but hope to pass him up as I have a much more flexible school schedule this semester. We got the best day on Friday together to top off the break. It made splurging on our Snowbird season passes completely worth it. We woke up super early after it had snowed all night and had the most incredible pow day together. It snowed heavily all morning up there. My legs were dead by the end of the day. So much for all that biking, I thought it would help but they were jello. We got plenty of untracked powder and had a blast together. That day will be hard to top.
I can't believe that we are leaving in just 4 months. I was thinking how fast those 4 weeks of winter break went and then had the thought that in just four more of those, we will be out of here! I am starting to get nervous and the tears have come a few times as I have been included in on the emails of planning the family reunion up at Colter Bay in Jackson this summer. Being away from family is what is going to kill us, but it's going to be a great time. The people in Scott's program are the coolest people I have ever met and I know they will become our family. I love them all and their wives are fantastic. Plus, adventure is always good right? Here's to 2009 and all that lies ahead. Happy New Year everyone. . . .

Today I read an article about how commercial our lives are becoming. I started writing down just name brands and things I use in an average day and was shocked at how many things I use. And I know there are many, many more on top of this! Here is an average day of school until just after noon. It was too much work to do my whole day! Just thought it was interesting to think about.

Christmas Re-cap

This Christmas season was a great time. It was so fun to be with family, watch all the snow come down, ski in that great snow, and just relax. Here is a quick re-cap of our last week.....
Christmas Eve night we went to my dad's house for the annual Cannon pajama party. We had delicious food and played "The Newlywed Game", needless to say there were a lot of laughs between all of us couples. The poor single people had to be the "question askers" and I'm sure learned a little too much about us all.

Christmas Day I unfortunately had to work until noon so it didn't seem like Christmas until those dreadful hours were over. We met up with Scott's family and saw Valkyrie. Then we went back and had a delicious dinner with Scott's family and then opened our presents. Scott's mom made us girls these darling glass necklaces with our first initials on one side and a picture on the back. Love them.

Scott and I are the new proud owners of a photo printer! Woohoo!
Brace yourselves....the best present of all from Scott.....a dishwasher! This was by far the best gift of all. It has already done wonders for our marriage! It's a great portable one that hooks right on up to our sink and has a nice wooden chop block on top to use as more counter space. Our place in Omaha doesn't have a dishwasher so we will most definitely be taking this with us! It is too good to be true! Thank you Scotty!

The best part of Christmas (even besides the dishwasher) was talking to this guy...My little brother Joe is serving in Charleston, West Virginia and he got to call me on Christmas night and the time talking to him was the greatest part of Christmas. That kid is milestones ahead of me as far as knowledge in the gospel and doing what's right. Listening to him talk about his love for the Book of Mormon and his knowledge of it was such a testimony to me. We all sent him packages for Christmas and he gave everything away to the people there. He loves them dearly. He is in the poorest part of WV and his stories are absolutely incredible. I am so proud of him.

Sunday morning we headed up to Midway and spent the next couple of days up at my moms. There is so much snow up there! My mom and I spent a day baking delicious homemade wheat bread, cinnamon rolls, and caramel popcorn. It was fun to bake in her new kitchen. We definitely made a mess but had great success!

and while we were baking in our cozy little house, this was going on outside.....Scotty and I took my little brothers up to Soldier Hollow to go tubing. It was a great time, and the best part of all is that instead of walking up the hill you can do this.....

Isn't that great?! We were all about the tow rope for sledding.

And last but not least, lots of this!Yesterday we went up with our great friends Spencer and Lisa. It was so nice to not have it be freezing freezing cold for once. Has anyone else noticed how FREEZING it's been up there all year? We even got some sunshine and if I may say, it was well deserved!
